Have you ever thought that the answer to raising more money is simply using upsells and asking your existing donors for more? Every action organization wants to raise more money whether that be a political campaign, church, or non-profit - upsells are a great way to accomplish that goal!
After analyzing platform-wide data on Anedot we have discovered some amazing results. When campaigns use upsells on Anedot, they are converting at a 25% rate on average.
That means that 1 in 4 people presented with an upsell on Anedot say yes.
What is an upsell?
An upsell is asking someone to do something after their initial action. There are several different types of upsells you can use to encourage a donor to give more money.
The most prominent example is a recurring upsell. A recurring upsell is used to ask someone to make their donation on a recurring basis, whether that be weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
A cross sell is asking a donor to give to a different organization after they have given to yours. For example, if you are a political candidate, you could cross sell your post-donation ask to another candidate with similar values. They could also do the same for your campaign. For cross sells, we have seen many of our customers generate a 30% uplift in total donations.
How do you create an upsell?
For simple upsells and recurring upsells, you can set them up inside your Anedot account! You do that by clicking “Upsells” on the left-hand panel of your account.
Once you have done that, you can click on “New Amount Upsell” or “New Recurring Upsell” in the top right-hand corner.
From there, you can set up the Name, Description, and Header Image of your upsell. You will also be prompted to be able to edit the upsell so it only shows if certain criteria are met.
